This playful collage is the 6th in a series of tree images. It’s made from ink-washed 1880s ledger paper, chalk paint on ledger paper, and the backs of air mail envelopes.
These envelopes used to contain letters home from the Vietnam war. (I turned the envelopes to the back so that there was no identifying information.). The letters all say pretty much the same things every time. I got your letters. I love you. I can’t wait to be with you and make you my wife. Simple but powerful words.
