The original is made from pages from a 1879 Victorian autograph book, chalk paint on 1907 ledgers, ink-washed 1910 Freemasons meeting minutes, 1890s penmanship lesson plans and 1950s letterform homework as well as patterned handmade Nepalese Lokta paper

This collage features a trio of flowers that seem to have opinions of their own. It’s built from 19th- to mid-20th-century ledgers, homework, and meeting minutes, as well as contemporary patterned papers. The blooms stretch upward with confident, mismatched leaves, each one cut from scraps of paper that once tracked far less exciting things.

The pot is completely decorative. The table is solid and dependable, and the background hums with pale blue accounting pages. There’s a gentle humor in the contrast: serious paper doing joyful work.  It’s like a still life that knows it’s supposed to behave but has decided not to.
