The original artwork is a mixed-media paper collage: a Japanese crane-patterned background, with a cat in the foreground.  The interior scene is made of many different 1973 railway tickets, giving the piece texture, depth, and vintage character.  The train tickets are for destinations near and far.

The idea behind this piece is that this is a housecat who thinks she is the Sphinx.  It’s a fun animal portrait, perfect for a child’s room, an entryway, or any wall that calls for whimsy and playfulness.
