“Manual of Etiquette” Print

This is a large giclée print on heavy archival matte paper.
The original is made from contemporary patterned paper and chalk paint painted 1940s ledger paper, with pages and cover from a 1880s book
This one’s got a loose story to it. Pages from a 1880 Manual of Etiquette for girls paper the wall. There is a photograph of sisters from the 1800s, and the vignette is of someone practicing floral arrangement. And I guess the collage itself is a nod to the Victorians. They loved their scrapbooks.
This is a large-scale (40×30 inch) collage in landscape form. It’s the first large collage I’ve ever attempted in this ratio and I enjoyed rethinking the elements I often use with this new format. I may continue in this vein for the next one. And maybe the one after that. Who knows?
